Dr. Kevin Kalikow is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who has
been in private practice for over 20 years. After attending Tulane
University School of Medicine in New Orleans,
Dr. Kalikow trained in General Psychiatry at New York Hospital-Cornell
Medical Center, Westchester Division and in Child Psychiatry at
Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
He is currently Clinical Assistant Professor in Child Psychiatry at New
York Medical College. He also teaches about the private practice of
child psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and
Surgeons.
Dr. Kalikow has been interviewed and quoted in numerous publications,
such as Ladies Home Journal and The New York Times. He has been
interviewed on radio and television, including National Public Radio's
The Diane Rehm Show.
In 2000, Dr. Kalikow was asked by a local hospital to speak on the
topic of the alleged over prescription of psychiatric medicines to
children. That speech culminated in Your Child
in the Balance.
Dr. Kalikow is happily married and the father of three grown children,
who have taught him that parents must always balance their desire to
intervene with their need to allow children to be themselves.
